Active/passive: Nightguards are passive appliances to hold teeth in place while protecting them from grinding/clenching. Active appliances like certain retainers or invisalign actually move or tilt teeth to straighten. I only recommend orthodontists to do this. Big fan of dr. Yue in morton grove or glen ortho in glenview. You will be in good hands with either one!

Nightguards: Night guards come in many different forms, however, their purpose is to protect the teeth from the effects of grinding one's teeth. They are not designed to move the teeth.
