A member asked:

Can ear infection cause high wbc and platelets count?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes.: An increase in wbcs (usually neutrophils in the case of a bacterial infection and lymphocytes in viral infections) is the body's normal reaction to fighting off pathogens. Inflammation can nonspecifically increase platelet numbers. Both of these are expected to return to more normal levels once the infection is gone.
