Yes: Elevate high (statue of liberty) and use ice. Swelling is more common after open surgery than the newer endoscopic techniques.

Yes: Hand swelling is common after a carpal tunnel release. Take it easy on the hand for a few weeks and the swelling should resolve. I tell my patients to give the hand a chance to heal.

Carpal tunnel: Some swelling is normal postop. Try elevation, intermittent ice packs, and gentle hyperextension stretches.

Yes: Initially swelling would be normal. Elevating your hand and moving your fingers should help with this. After several weeks, there should not be hand swelling. Some wrist swelling at the incision site may be normal though for 6 weeks..
