Ultrasound: And other imaging tests are just that, diagnostic tests. They are useful when they are positive, but not useful when they are negative. Not all hernias are detectable on ultrasound, and a negative ultrasound doesn't mean that hernia possibility is excluded. Ask a surgeon for specific recommendation.
