Not particularly: Alcohol in low doses (1 standard drink/day in women and older men, 2/day in men under 60) may increase our "good" cholesterol - hdl, but exercise does this much better than does alcohol. Red wine contains a chemical (resveratrol) that may be heart-healthy, but red grape juice has it too. Amounts over the above recommended limits rapidly cause problems that outweigh any good.
