Depends: Since a hida scan depends on a normally functioning liver, ingesting a large quantity of alcohol sufficient to cause an acute alcoholic hepatitis would probably impair such function. More sane levels of consumption should not be a problem but regularly consuming enough alcohol to become hungover is indicative of a significant alcohol abuse issue. Not a good long term strategy.

Not usually...but: Not ususally (if it is one isolated event), but if someone is drinking a lot of alcohol it can damage the liver, which could affect a hida study.

Why be hungover: Alcoholism may increase bile viscosity and result in abnormal hepatobiliary function.Should have HIDA test performed under optimal conditions.
