Yes: About one person in four has a miniature second spleen and this will enlarge if the main one is removed. This is common. Even if you think this has happened, you should still be immunized against pneumococcus and should remain vigilant against the bacteria to which you're extra-vulnerable -- get seen at once for any fever that's not obviously a mild viral illness.
