Probably.: Probably, if your orthopedist recommends it. Sometimes more damage can occur if it's left untreated.

Depends: Most likely you will need because you're young and you need your knee to function, but there are certain tears that may potentially be treated conservatively, but that would be up to the orthopedic specialist.
