Unlikely: If an MRI did not show any abnormality of the meniscus or ligaments then it would be very unlikely that you have a tear. Like everything, there are false positives and false negatives, but a "completely clean" MRI likely means that the answer to your question is no.

See details: A normal MRI (if the reading is correct) makes tears unlikely. However, the symptom of buckling is impressive. See the orthopedist and discuss whether an mr-arthrogram is indicated. This is a more sensitive test than the plain mri.
