Not usually: Fournier's gangrene diabetes accounts for only 48 % , rest is due to many other causes , like g u problems , ano rectal problems , genital piercing , injuries , immune suppressions etc , so chances of recurrences depends on its etiology ( correction of cause ).

Hygiene: This infection is a problem combined with hygiene and immune function. Those who have diabetes and other problems that can inhibit healing are subject to this infection. It also usually occurs with minor trauma such as a scratch from a zipper, or other sharp object.
