Poor control: Diabetes produces accelerated peripheral vascular disease and neuropathy, in addition to kidney failure as end stages of prolonged and inadequately managed disease. When it gets to the stage where it produces such changes, loss of a limb is only one manifestation of the state of your body with long-standing diabetes.
