Brokn en leg: Yes swelling is very common. Keep leg elevated to reduce swelling.

Yes: Any trauma to an extremity could take weeks if not months for the swelling to subside. The lymphatic system which helps drain the fluid may take months to equilibrate. The good news is that swelling doesn't hurt, just annoying to get your shoes to fit. Ted hose ( tight) stockings could help with the swelling.
