Policemen: Leucocytes are white blood cells, the policemen of the body. They congregate at sites of infection and inflammation in the urine. A urine dipstick can confirm if you have a UTI (positive nitrites as well). Leucocytes may be seen with urethritis. Your doctor can best advise you based on your symptoms and the dipstick findings.

No: Wbc 's in the urine (pyuria) means there is inflammation somewhere along the urinary tract. Though an infection can cause a pyuria in many cases, other non- infectious causes exist: presence of a catheter, trauma, passing a kidney stone, lupus, are examples.
