WBC on UA: The serum albumin and GFR seem fine, but you have some WBC and leukocyte esterase in the urine. Could be a subtle infection. Could be an inflammatory condition of the bladder or kidney. Should be investigated.

Yes: Bladder infections in pregnancy are more likely to progress to kidney infections than normal. Kidney infections may also cause preterm delivery, pneumonia or bacteria in the bloodstream. If you have a bladder infection and develop fever, pain going into your back or symptoms like the flu, you need to let your doctor know immediately.
A 21-year-old member asked:

Is there a connection between ic and urinary tract infections (utis)?

A Leaky Link: Interstitial cystitis (ic) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the lining of the bladder wall. No one knows exactly what causes it but it can certainly be exacerbated by urinary tract infections. Many homeopathic remedies aim toward controlling inflammation and infection risk by making the urine contain certain by-products of natural metabolism. Such phenomenon is seen with cranberry juice.

Do thyroid hormone levels significantly change if you have diabetes nephropathy?

Not related: They shouldn't necessarily be related, but it certainly is possible to have both thyroid hormone problems as well as diabetes. If you have concerns about either problem, make sure you discuss them with your doctor. An easy blood test can assess your thyroid hormone levels and screen for kidney issues as well. Best wishes.

Does the adrenal gland need to be removed with kidney cancer surgery?

2 doctor answers11 doctors weighed in
Dr. Moez Khorsandi
Urology 27 years experience
No: The adrenal gland is a small but very important organ that sits on top of each kidney. During kidney cancer surgery, it has been traditionally removed as part of the surgery to remove the kidney cancer. However, there is a lot of recent data to show that it does not need to be removed with the kidney as long as certain criteria are met such as size of the kidney tumor, location of tumor, etc.
