Maybe: Heavy midcycle bleeding may be related to hormones related to a persistent ovarian cyst. If the cyst hasn't resolved, medical therapy may be indicated to suppress the cyst and if persistent, surgical intervention may be required for resolution. Ultrasound characteristics of the cyst can be important for determining if surgery is indicated.
