You may need medications to treat possible mental health conditions. If your self-harm is associated w substance abuse – detoxification, 12 step programs or rehabilitation may be indicated. Enjoying self harm?: I wouldn't put a "bad" or "good" value judgment on this, but the question is whether it serves your best health interests or not? Many people who have experienced abuse use self-cutting to deal with inner pain. They also often end up with scars on their arms or elsewhere, and ask us how they can get rid of those. Help for the pain beneath all is available. Please ask your doctor for referrals.
