Does cutting sugar for days after eating so much reverse the bad effects?

When we eat sugary foods our blood sugar level temporarily spikes up & this causes a release of inflammatory enzymes which are unhealthy. Avoiding sugar & concentrated sweets like syrups, candies, pastry we prevent release of these enzymes& protect our pancreas. Of course a severe diabetic with complications of eye, kidneys, coronary arteries already has damage& these can't clear once they develop.

It would not necessarily reverse the bad effects of eating sugar previously, but it would not give you any more problems, if you quit. Occasional sugar in your food will not hurt you, but it should not be a regular significant component of your diet. Good luck.
