Bite plate: Not for that reason alone. Ask your dentist how best to protect your crowns as well as the rest of your teeth.

Bite plate: From your question, I am assuming you mean night guard for the term"bite plate". Whether it is needed or not depends on if you have a grinding or clenching habit. Usually your dentist will be able to determine this. If you don't have any bite problems( occlusal interferences) or any grinding or clenching habits, it may not be required. I hope that helps.

Absolutely yes!!!: It is definitely advisable to protect your investment... Many people suffer from parafunctional issues (clenching and grinding, etc.) and it is possible to do tremendous damage from it. Also, if your bite has not been equilibrated (balanced and aligned), then you are even more prone to problems...
