People who talk : About their feelings are less likely to harm themselves. Talking to someone who is trying to help may also give the person some hope and perhaps deter them from committing suicide. The people who man hotlines are trained to help and sometimes have also overcome depression.

A/W Dr. Lavi: A person who is very suicidal might see killing themself as their only option. When you invite other people to help you - they can help one to see that suicide is not the only option. Dispensing with tunnel vision can help to save lives. You can call the national suicide hotlines 24/7 at 1-800-suicide (1-800-784-2433) or 1-800-273 – talk (1-800-273-8255) for support.
