Death vs coma: Coma is a state of unconscious unresponsiveness. The person is still alive but unable to respond. An electroencephalogram will show electrical activity indicating the brain is functioning although at an impaired state. Brain death the person is no longer alive. An electroencephalogram would show no brain activity.
