A member asked:

How does a coma from head trauma and the head trauma itself damage the brain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Coma is a symptom: Head trauma is not brain trauma, both can co-exist. Coma is a symptom secondary to brain trauma, not to simple head trauma. Brain trauma sets up an incredibly complex train of chemical reactions, some of which begin immediately and others may begin years later.
