Venous Doppler: A venous duplex ultrasound is the gold standard to diagnose DVT from the groin to the lower calf. Between the mid abdomen and groin a cat scan, cat scan angiogram with the venous phase or an MRV would be the methods of choice to find a clot. There are many causes of leg pain and a clot is only one of them.
