Discuss a thoracic CT with your physician if there is no other explanation for your shortness of breath. The negative US and VQ are reassuring and a D Dimer test may be elevated due to a number of causes. Monitor O2 saturation and breathing pattern.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, how high is the level. A negative d-dimer test is more useful. A positive can be due to many causes and is not diagnostic. Wish you good health!
