Hard to be certain..: It's asking a lot of us online to come up with an answer. Lots of questions and an exam needed to try. If the pain and swelling is localized to a joint, e.g., your ankle, then you may want to ask if you were tested for different kinds of arthritis, e.g., lyme, rheumatoid, other infection, or gout. Not sure what else to offer. Good luck.
