Risk vs. benefit. : Radiographic studies are usually requested when the benefit of the study out weighs the risk of the exam. If you are concerned about the amount of radiation, have your doctor discuss this with the radiologist, who can get a radiation physicist to get a better calculation of the cumulative dose which can further be discussed with your md/radiologist.
