Do not know yet: May all be due to constipation. Please see your doctor for a full history and physical. Get this worked up. Since you are over 50, you may be due for a colonoscopy anyway.

Need eval: If you have not had a colonoscopy at your age then you need one. The recommended age is 50 (45 if aa). The blood you describe sounds more related to a tear/fissure from passing the hard stool. However i would recommend following up with a GI doctor. Colon cancer is always a concern when blood is found in the stool.
