Although cancer is an unlikely reason for the bleeding, anytime rectal bleeding occurs it needs to be evaluated. You should see your primary care doctor or a gastroenterologist for the next steps in the evaluation. It is important not to delay. Good luck.

My working diagnosis would be bleeding from internal hemorrhoids. However you must be checked. A proctologist or gastroenterologist may do an inoffice proctoscopic exam and document the presence of internal hemorrhoids that bled. If they have more concerns you'll be booked for a colonoscopy. Problematic Internal hemorrhoids can be tied off in their office. A lot depends upon your age&symptoms
