Diverticulitis: Some discomfort can last for a few weeks, but the worst part of it should be over if you have been on antibiotics for 10 days. If it is still painful to the touch you should follow up with your doctor for an exam and perhaps a ct scan. Occasionally an abscess can develop around the site of the diverticulitis, called a phlegmon, and closer monitoring is required.
