A member asked:

My 3yr old son has a vp shunt. just below the top of the shunt it moves back and forth a little also tube bunches in neck. is that normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably: Much of the shunt is implanted just under the skin, so there will be some movement noted there. They always place extra tubing both in the neck and in the abdomen to help when the child grows. This way future surgeries can be avoided when possible; for planning that the child will grow in height. Hoping all goes well with you and your son.
