Varies: Depends on the age of the patient and the location of the secondary tooth. There is no definitive answer. Ask the dentist who will be extracting the baby tooth where the secondary tooth is located.

Depends: It depends on why you needed to have your baby tooth pulled and where the permanent tooth is situated. At 16 most of the time all of the baby teeth have been lost and the permanent teeth erupted. Your dentist should be able to give you an answer to this question since he knows your mouth.

Weeks to months: As a 20 year old your permanent teeth have lost much of their eruptive potential. May take weeks to months to erupt. May not erupt at all and require Orthodontic guidance. To erupt tooth must be in good position, angulated properly, and have enough room to erupt. Recommend consultation with Orthodontic Specialist.
