A member asked:

What to do if i have never had chicken pox, if my child gets it, can i get it from him?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: Most adults have blood evidence of protectibe chickenpox antibody even when they do not remember having it.If not, and you are susceptable, you are likely to get it from any close contace. As little as an hour in the same room with a case is consiidered adequate exposure to get it. There are blood tests avaiable to show if you are at risk and a vaccine if you choose to use it.
