I'm just wondering, if you have had the mumps as a child can you still get chicken pox as a teenager?

Yes: The two illnesses are unrelated so having one doesn't give you immunity to the other. If you had 2 doses of the chickenpox vaccine in childhood you are likely not susceptible.

Different diseases : Yes, they are different diseases. Having one will not create immunity to the other.
