Try this: Avoid caffeine, tobacco and alcohol. Elevate the head of your bed 6' on blocks. See a doctor if it persists--might be more serious than you think.

Drink water: Water will lower your acid level immediately. If the cause of the heartburn is reflux, it will wash the acid out of the esophagus. If this fails, you can try drinking milk. Try to find out which foods cause the heart burn and restrict eating them. Also, don't over eat and don't have a large meal right before bedtime.
