Usually younger: Most babies grow out of their gastroesophageal reflux (ger) by 6 months' age as their lower esophageal sphincter matures. Docs don't get too worried about ger unless it starts impacting the baby's breathing system, impairs growth, or inflames the esophagus from acid burns. Meds to reduce gastric acid, upright positioning after feedings, & small frequent feedings decrease ger & its bad effects.
