It depends: Something is blocking the x-ray beam passing through your lungs that causes the "white mass". Most commonly pneumonia. Cancer can cause a white mass, but much less common. Ask your doctor that ordered the exam what the next step should be depending on your symptoms and cigarette smoking history.
