A member asked:

White mass on chest x-ray, what does this signify?

It depends: Something is blocking the x-ray beam passing through your lungs that causes the "white mass". Most commonly pneumonia. Cancer can cause a white mass, but much less common. Ask your doctor that ordered the exam what the next step should be depending on your symptoms and cigarette smoking history.

Nonspecific: Large density in lungs on chest radiograph can be seen in pneumonia, volume loss, hemorrhage, and tumors.
