Not brushing: Parents must ensure to brush their children's teeth until the age of eight or nine. Milk and juices all contain a lot of sugar. So do breads and most foods. This sugar feeds the bacteria on your child's teeth resulting in tooth decay. Do not let you baby fall asleep with a bottle in her mouth. Brush your child's teeth after feeding.

Baby bottle syndrome: Do you allow your child to fall asleep with a bottle containing anything other than water? Have you started brushing and cleaning your child's teeth as they erupted? These are important points in answering your question. Cavities form when bacteria and sugary substances are present.

Cavities: Cavities can form & destroy tooth structure regardless of age of individual, and whether or not it is a baby or adult tooth. It's the same process. Most likely cause is use of bottle with milk or juice sipping it during the day for long periods of time or going to bed with bottle. Also use of lollipops & sugary candies or treats often. Your pedodontist should be able to give you advice\guidance.

10 months late: 1st dental ck-up age 1. Cavity may be due to developmental defect in tooth, too much sugar in diet, inadequate oral hygiene, lack of fluorides, lack of sealants, or baby bottle abuse. Little kids get cavities the same way big kids and adults do. With children, go early and regularly.
