Uric acid & gout: High uric acid causes gout. Which is an incredibly painful arthritis. It's caused by high purine diet (sugars, meats, alcohol, etc) & your individual metabolism. You increase your risk w/dehydration (causing crystals to come out). You can lower risk by eating low purine foods but if you have a propensity towards gout, you'll probably need to take medication to lower risk. http://goo.gl/5be8v.
