Typically yes.: With appropriate, a pulmonary embolus would be expected to be progressively dissolved by the body. This may take on the order of several months. A pulmonary embolus does not travel to the brain. A DVT may be the cause of pulmonary embolus; a DVT may also be the cause of a stroke in the case of a patient who also has a patent foramen ovale.

Yes and no: Usually pulmonary emboli doesn't cause brain emboli unless some one has a specific heart condition. Also blood thinner is supposed to resolve prior emboli and prevent further though breakthrough emboli happens in few cases.

Pulmonary emboli: Depending on the burden of pulmonary emboli, these may be broken down by the body's natural "clot-busting" mechanisms or may remain to some extent after partial resolution. How long this takes depends on how much clot is there in the first place. They cannot go from the lung to the brain, although the source of the clot (e.g., DVT) may embolize to the brain if you have a patent foramen ovale
