Different diseases: Ra is an autoimmune disease which affects the joints and causes pain, stiffness, and swelling. Osteoporosis is an asymptomatic disease of brittle bones which are more prone to break. Ra (and some of the medications used to treat it) can increase the risk of getting osteoporosis.
