Some is true: Corticosteroids including Prednisone or Prednisolone can cause loss of bone density. There are medications that can cause osteoporosis which we call giop glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis. The medications do not necessarily slow you down. Steroids: Steroids are the main drugs that cause osteoporosis in RA treatment. The current recommendations are that if you are going to be on higher amounts of steroids for a prolonged period that you take osteoporosis type medication to prevent bone loss.
