I have herniated discs, lumber. i am getting worse, supposed to have surgery. when i have a bm, i get an intense pain in my back. is this emergent?

Probably not: If you experience changes in your bowel and bladder function, or have numbness in your buttocks, you may need to seek care emergently, otherwise simply pain with bowel movement by itself does not make the need for herniated disc surgery emergent.
