It seems like my pro air inhaler doesn't work as well as the older inhaler. is there anything better for a rescue inhaler i can mention to my doctor?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Albuterol for asthma: The pharmaceutical industry has been moving away from propellant-based inhalers towards dry powder inhalers in an attempt to protect our ozone. In one sense, albuterol is albuterol (that's the active ingredient in your proair). But sometimes, the inhalers might behave differently so you can ask for Proventil HFA or ventolin hfa. Perhaps even off-label Combivent (albuterol and ipratropium) (which is ipratropium + albuterol).
