TMJ: Sounds like your jaw is popping at the tmj. Is it painful? Many things can cause this but the bottom line is the temporal mandibular joint is not moving smoothly and you get the popping. Have you told you dentist about this?

TMJ problem: You may have a problem with one of your temporomandibular joints (tmj). It is a common problem and is frequently not recognized. I suggest that you undergo evaluation. There are some exercises that may be tried to strengthen the muscles around the joint. Just google TMJ exercises or check out one of my tips.
