Yes: Only surgery and pathological examination of a biopsy can diagnose endometriosis. A doctor may suspect it but can only confirm it with surgery., there are many different types of medical options (provera, aygestin, (norethindrone) birth control pills, lupron, femara, etc) so it might be helpful to see a specialist to get a better sense of treatment.
