Lingual Papillae: The human tongue is quite an amazing instrument! you may actually be referring to the papillae, or outward projections from the tongue. These come in many sizes and shapes, and evolved from the very useful ones seen in cats and other mammals. One or the types of papillae are the circumvallate papillae, which are fascinating spots about which to read..

Tongue discoloration: The tongue may normally change color based on diet, smoking, frequency of brushing, medications, etc. If you have no other symptoms, i wouldn't be too worried. If it progresses, i would see an ent.

Possibly taste buds: If the little pimples on the tongue are further back on the top surface of the tongue then they are most likely taste buds. But, if the little pimples are found in different areas of your tongue and if they discharge pus, then you need to seek professional help to help fully diagnose.
