Not sure: If there is no infection, taking an antibiotic will not help and and grown toenail. The signs of infection due to an ingrown toenail, are redness, pain and swelling of the area.

Nope: First, even if antibiotics are indicated, that one is not the greatest for things that would be in/around your ingrown toenail. However, having an ingrown toenail is like having a foreign body trapped in there. Until you get it taken care of, it will just continue to cause problems. If your primary care doctor can't help you, then make an appointment with a podiatrist to take care of that nail.
