Fat loss important: Not quite sure what you are asking, so hopefully this helps. It is far more important to lose fat mass than to gain muscle mass if you have abdominal obesity. As obese people lose weight both fat and muscle mass will decrease and that is nothing to worry about. The proportion of muscle mass being lost can be minimized by increasing strength training. But probably not by any dietary changes.
