Consider this: Spicy food, may irritate the stomach so much that the lining is penetrated by the acid the stomach produces to digest sugar/carbohydrates. Would consider decreasing the spicy foods to avoid possible ulcers/even stomach cancer that could come as a result of repeated acid injury of the stomach.
