Smell Gone - Back?: The sense of smell often worsens after anything that causes stuffy nose -- a head cold, allergy flare up, or a severe irritant like smoke ingestion. The sense of smell should improve when your nose returns to baseline congestion. If it has not, suspect a viral infection such as influenza or parainfluenza. Go see an ENT to have your nose examined and get treatment.

Should: Sinus infections can be very nasty. Even though it sounds like you're recovering at this point, i'd still recomment you see and ear, nose, and throat specialist to have your sinuses evaluated for a chronic condition. At this point, he or she can evaluate your sense of smell and taste, although i'm confident these should return soon. Keep smiling !
