Chondromalacia: If your knee releases have not improved your symptoms in the last 1.5 years, you may have a more involved problem. Sometimes, the releases are to decrease pressure on the knee caps. At 52, you may have chondromalacia or cartilage wear. This is a tough problem to solve in a relatively young person. I would consider a cortisone injection to the knee to see if decreasing inflammation helps.
